Love Is All That Really Matters

WOW!!! It is the end of another year. Does time go faster as we age? I guess I will continue to explore this
thought as I turn one year older this week. I am close to fifty. That is another WOW!! When I was young
I never imagined myself being middle aged. That was my parents. How many of you feel like I do?

I spent Thanksgiving at my parents home with my youngest daughter. She's two years old. We had lots of fun!!!
We spent many hours just watching her. It was very enjoyable for my parents as she looks just like I did at that age. For them it must have brought back lots of memories. I am their eldest child.

I also spent time reading my paternal grandparents love letters. It was something to see their life as a courting couple in their twenties, who were so much in love. They passed away years ago, but I got to feel close to them again, and view their lives from a different perspective. My grandma wanted my grandpa to burn them all. Thankfully he never did. The letters would make a great book or movie. They were married in 1929. It was a tough time to begin a life together.

Now we are living in tough times in every way, again. Our nation is struggling to remain a free country. Our economy is depressed, many people are out of work just like when my grandparents were young. People are letting despair and fear rule their lives. Families are breaking apart all around us. People are turning away from God. There is a lot of history repeating itself. But as we end another year, I am thankful I live in the United States of America. I can do or make what I dream for my life. No where else in the world can we do this.
I have hope that righteous men and women will stand up for what is right in their communities. That we will show more kindness to our neighbors and in our families. That we will find joy in doing what is right.
Lets not waste our days in silly pursuits, but remember who we are and why we are here. If you don't know
yet who you are and your purpose in life then for your sake and your loved ones find out.

I am so glad that our calendar year ends with the celebration of Thanksgiving and Christmas. For me this helps me begin a new year with renewed hope. Some recent years have been ones that I would not ever want to repeat but, I usually can count on the last two months being a time of thanksgiving, peace and celebration.

I have the best family. My kids are the best. I love my husband and he loves me. As my grandpa Verdon wrote to my grandma Vera " love is all that really matters."

This past week was busy and fun. My youngest daughter Megan turned 2. We had a party. I can't write about

it like my eldest daughter Maranda did so I will refer you to her blogsite. Marandashighschooladventures.blogspot.com. Here is a picture of Megan at her party with her 4 year-old cousin Spencer. They are lovin' those cones.

It seems to me that time is going faster and faster as it passes. Does it for you? When your baby turns 2 that ends her days of babyhood. She is so big that it is hard for me to carry her for very long. She wants to be independent but thank goodness not for very long. I am not ready for her to grow up. She is our last child. I try to enjoy and cherish as many moments as I can.

I ended the week planting. Yes it is November and I planted some bulbs with the help of my daughter Selena, and Megan tried too. Here in Ogden Utah it is usually in the 30's in November. Not this weekend it is in the 60's. If our house doesn't sell before spring then we will have daffodils and tulips to brighten our spirits.

I am working on my business. I started it 4 weeks ago on Monday. Wake Up Now is the name. I am looking for seven people to work with that want to get out of debt and be free from money worries. It is very simple and I will support anyone in setting up your business and getting out of debt, that is willing to work as hard as they can to copy what I am doing. It is very simple. Does anyone else have this as a goal besides me? Getting of debt? I have found a new exciting
company that helps me do that. The software tracks all of my family's monthly expenses and our
debt. We get a debit card with the system that pays us back a % on our purchases. We also get paid
for what others on our team spend.

I enjoy playing with the debt calculator. I encourage everyone to see what this is all about.

Its October. Wow!! The weather here in Utah says its summer. The forcast is rain for the next five days.

I am busy driving my girls to their activites. On Wednesdays Maranda has violin practice with the Weber Strings
at Weber State University. Selena has an acting group she is in on the same evening. One is at 5pm and the other is at 5:40pm. This schedule puts me in the car for an hour. I drive from on end of town to the other.
These daughters also are working hard to raise tuition for a program next summer. It is People to People
ambassador program. They will travel to Japan for two weeks. That is if they raise the funds.
So far they have had a bake sale on Friday and a yard sale today. They raised a little over $100.00.
We are currently trying to find the best way to raise this money.

This program is amazing!! The kids who attend gain so much from the experience. We will work hard

Now a different subject. This week is general conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
It is one of my favorite weekends. As a member of the church I enjoy listening to instruction from the apostles and our prophet. It is a great spiritual feast. There are five two hour sessions of speakers and sacred music. I enjoyed the speakers I was able to listen to on the radio while my husband test drove a couple of cars.

A Wonderful New Habit

This morning my husband, my baby daughter and I went cycling. I haven't been for a very

long time. We just bought a baby seat for the bike. So now we all can go. My other children

were at school. It was a wonderful ride. The bike trail goes by the river, under a couple of streets,

it ends a couple of times. The city is in the process of constructing more of the trail by the river, We

rode on some parts that were unfinished. The weather was perfect. The picture above is along the
bike path in Ogden Utah.

I told my husband we have to do this every morning. Later in the day I could barely sit down. My
butt bones were bruised it seemed. Maybe it will be a couple of days, until I am toughened up some.

We don't have regular TV transmisson right now and haven't for several months.
I like it. I don't seem to have enough time in my day now to accomplish all I want to.
I don't know how I did when I watched TV a couple of hours a day.
For my entertainment I have 4 kids, though the 20 month old is the most entertaining.
I think she is the most adorable baby ever. We watch Netflix for entertainment.
But a lot of the time I miss portions of the movie because she stands in the middle of the
room and dances or climbs upon the two sub-woofers that we don't currently use and perches
there talking to her audience-us. I could just watch her for my entertainment and it would satisfy
the cute, adorable quotient we all need in our lives. Like when you just have to have that
puppy that is oh, so cute, until it chews your favorite shoes.
So I hope my youngest daughter stays in this cute, adorable, I could sit and watch her for hours
phase, much, much longer. Because my other children are far passed that now. Teenagers, need I say

more.

Not my canned food, a representation.

Tomorrow is the first day of school for two of my children; Maranda 15, Selena 13; Sophomore in high school, and
eighth grade respectively. We have spent a few hundred $$$ getting all three of my four children outfitted for
school. That is just in clothes. Schools supplies came in under $10. But that is just to get them through the first week. School fees for the charter school my daughters attend are over $500. My son Joseph begins on Wednesday. He is 10, almost 11 years and in the fifth grade. His school fees, very little. His clothes- about $175.
I will have my baby Megan at home she is 21 months old.

We have been busy the past week, not only with the above, but we are doing a few fix-ups on our house. We have a contractor coming in to help with most of it. But we are doing some too. We have redone all of our 1909 house ourselves, to this point. We have lived here since the summer of 2006. Our contractor will do some surface texture repair of the ceilings, trim work outside, and in one bedroom, and painting the upper third of the house where the wood shingles are. The rest of the exterior is brick. I painted our upstairs bath yesterday. This is not a great accomplishment for me, except I did it late in the day, when it was 99 degrees outside. We don't have central air. I had been up since 5am.

I decided it was my turn to volunteer at our food co-op we participate in. I took my to oldest girls, we enjoyed
doing our part. We especially liked getting some extra produce for helping. Ummmm.

I have a blendtec blender and it is wonderful having inexpensive produce to make delicious foods with in
my new kitchen machine.
Our peaches, apples, pears, and walnuts are almost ready to harvest. I plan on doing some canning this year.
I froze some Olathe Colorado corn, and made apricot freezer jam. I feel so good when I create something,
especially when it turns out well.

What am I going to tell, the suspense may kill you? I won't make you wait, long. I just discovered that I must be a BOOK-aholic. Here's how I came to this conclusion. My husband just purchased, "Driven" An Autobiography by the late Larry H. Miller. It was his father's day present, though a month late. I promised I would't read it until he was finished. But when he is asleep at night I have been reading it. Yesterday he was outside and I couldn't help myself. I needed something to read and it was there on the dining room table. It was just saying read me, he's not here. So I picked up the book and got nice and comfortable on my bed. But I didn't get very far because my 21 month old daughter needed me. I left the book open, face down on the bed. He came in before I could put it back. "Quit reading my book", he yelled. Boy, is he touchy. "You promised"!

he continued. He's right, I did promise. So here I am writing about wanting to read my husbands book, instead of reading it. He's outside, doing yard work. The book is sitting on his desk. The baby is asleep, and my other three children are at their dad's house this weekend. It looks like he has purposefully placed his phone and MP3 player on top of it, he knows he can't trust a bookaholic . He know's because he is an alcoholic and he can recognize any type of addiction, even if it is as innocent as the love of reading.

Taste of things to Come

I miss my kids. Three of the four have been visiting their grandparents in West Virginia,with
their Dad and step mom. They are having a great time. First time to fly.
I have one child here with my husband and I. She is 19 months and without her siblings is a
handful. She seems to miss them. They bring out a spark in her personality. That her middle-
aged parents can't do.
We do have less noise, less food consumption, less garbage creation, but we are all missing
Maranda, Selena and Joseph. I think even the neighbor kids my son plays with are outside
less since hes has been gone this week.
Could be just the hotter weather temperatures.

This is probably a glimpse of what our family life will be like as they continue to grow-up.

I love my family. I will be happy while they are away. I will be happy when they return safe
to our home. I have a feeling that they are missing us too.

Creating Our Hearts Desire

Today in church we discussed the creation of the earth. We also spoke about each of having the ability to create. I am listening to a woman who wants to teach others how to be their true selves. She speaks about the sixth sense. If you want to know what that is, you'll have to research that on your own. But basically it is the "inspiration sense".

This is one of my hearts desires. Writing a book about my amazing, exciting, miraculous, at times terrifying life. This is the beginning of it.

I have learned from listening to Sonia Choquette that everyone needs to have listening eyes. I have two people that comes to mind that are my listening eyes for a book. My mom, and my high school best girlfriend Yvette Arts.

I have many hearts desires. I want to be a doula again. It is a birth coach. This takes alot
of physical stamina. Maybe someday I'll have the stamina again. I am homeschooling my son Joseph. I have wanted to do this for a few years. This year is the year for me to be able to do this.

What are your hearts desire? Do you have support. Sonia Choquette, the woman I am listening to at this moment, says "even Christ had 12 helpers". We are all here to help one another.

Slime and Sympathizers

Yesterday I made slime. It was fun. What does that say about me. It's really quite easy, only four ingredients.
I suppose that I can still have fun even if it is in the favorite class of my 12 year-old daughter and my 10 year-old son. We attended science Saturday at Weber State University. We learned about electricity, cells, we made a hovercraft too.

Recently I smashed my baby's left thumb in our screen door. This was not only highly traumatic to her but to her brother Joseph. He and I were the only ones home. He had to sit by her on the way to the ER. They were both howling. She more than he. It turned out that the tip was fractured.
She wore a bandage for about 4 days. Yes. I did change it over that period of time.

All parents feel horrible when they cause an accident that harms one of their children.
My Mom closed the VW bug car door on my hand in 1963. I was younger than my daughter at the time of my accident.
She sympathizes with me. All moms can with their daughters.

We all share so much. What have you done this past week that you can share with your mom or daughter or sister.
